About this course

ASA 102 is designed for sailors who have completed ASA 101 and want to sharpen their fundamentals before moving on to cruising courses — or simply become more capable, confident sailors. It is also ideal for experienced sailors returning to the water after time away, or anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of sail trim, helming, and close-quarters boat control.

The course is taught entirely on the water with minimal classroom time. You'll spend the day building on your ASA 101 foundation with a focus on advanced boat handling, upwind and downwind sail trim, and maneuvering in winds up to 20 knots. ASA 102 is not a prerequisite for ASA 103 or any higher course — it's a skill-building course that makes every subsequent course easier and more rewarding.

Schedule & format

One day, 9am to 4pm, aboard the Blue 22 (Marlow Hunter 22) with a USCG-licensed instructor. Private instruction for up to 4 students. The course is conducted entirely on the water — be prepared for a full day of active sailing.
